In August of 2024, we held our wedding at Stony Woods, and I can’t imagine a more idyllic place. We checked in on a Wednesday with the plan to stay until Sunday, but we loved it there so much, we wound up extending to the following Wednesday. Kim, Steve, and everyone on staff were so attentive and accommodating. Planning and staging a wedding is supposed to be stressful, but they made everything incredibly easy.

The villa is gorgeous, comfortable, spacious, and there are just so many varied places to chill. Or dance, if that’s your thing. And it’s so convenient to be able to rent the five treehouse cabins within walking distance of the villa. This allows other guests to have their own private spaces with well-appointed kitchens and beautiful bathrooms. Our family and friends wound up staying in these, and it was rave reviews all around.

If you’re planning a gathering in the mountains, especially if it’s a wedding, there is no better place to do it than here. Close to Marshall and Hot Springs, close to a ton of hiking trails and river activities, close to Asheville. Seriously, look no further. You found the place. Perfect rustic setting, extremely nice lodging, Kim and her staff have a great relationship with a bunch of local caterers (we highly recommend Daphne’s Catering/Twisted Laurel in Weaverville), setup and breakdown of the ceremony space and reception tent are seamless, and we hear they’ve built a big party deck since we were there.

Just book this place. It’s incredible.

Where do I begin!!!! Our experience with Stony Woods Estate was incredible. We could not have asked for a better venue for our wedding. Kim and Steve are incredibly detailed, caring, talented, and professional. They did everything in their power to ensure our wedding was perfect. The property is STUNNING. The villa was the perfect lodging for our best friends for the weekend. Our family filled the cabins around the property and loved their lodging as well. Our wedding guests raved about the property and entire wedding experience. My social media has been full of guests’ photos with the mountains. I could not recommend this venue more. We feel so lucky to have found it and had Kim and Steve on our team for the wedding.

We couldn’t have asked for a better venue for our small ceremony with our family. The views and property are absolutely beautiful. The villa is so spacious and immaculate for guests to stay. We spent a lot of time by the fire pit soaking up the sunrise and sunset. The hosts of this villa were wonderful, very easy to communicate with and so helpful as we navigated a rainy wedding day. Absolutely recommend, we will be back for a stay again!

We recently hosted my daughter’s wedding at Stony Woods and had family/friends staying the Treehouses. The estate and grounds were incredible and hosts were very responsive to all of our needs. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue or weekend!

The venue was beautiful and the host was great. They were prepared for the weather and took the time to move the ceremony spot multiple times to make sure we had the best experience given the rain. We got married at Stony Woods Estate during the weekend of Hurricane Helene. This storm devastated WNC in ways that are hard to put into words. Entire roadways, bridges, and towns were washed away, leaving communities isolated and in crisis. We chose Stony Woods because our families and friends were going to be traveling from out of state. Stony Woods offered the perfect setup. In addition to the main villa, the property has several beautiful/modern cabins within walking distance. As the storm wreaked havoc on the surrounding areas, 24 of us, including young children and elderly relatives—hunkered down at SW for 3.5 days, waiting for a safe route out. Despite the devastation around us, we were incredibly fortunate. Stony Woods sits high enough up the mountain that the venue remained mostly untouched, aside from a few downed trees and the loss of power/running water. The property became a sanctuary offering stunning mountain views once the storm passed. These moments of natural beauty provided comfort and healing as we navigated the chaos. When the situation turned dire, Kim and Steve stepped up in ways we never expected. They brought us vital supplies—diapers, baby wipes, food, water, and more. Their kindness and support were a lifeline while there. We had planned for a wedding with 75 guests, complete with vendors but of course, none of that happened. We didn’t have our full wedding party. Even our officiant, had no way of reaching us/vice versa. We didn’t know if she was safe, let alone if she’d be able to officiate our ceremony. Amid the uncertainty, Kim asked if we still wanted to get married and if there was anything she could do to help. With everything going on, the thought of still having our wedding seemed almost impossible. I replied, “We don’t even have an officiant.” To my surprise, Kim told me that Steve is ordained. She reassured me that if we wanted to move forward with the ceremony, Steve would happily step in. The morning of our wedding, everyone on the property—including Kim and Steve —came together to make it happen. My stepmother did the decor so we had them with us, My SIL did my hair in an RV outlet, and my MOH did my makeup with whatever we had. We used a BT speaker to play whatever songs we already downloaded on our phones. I don’t even remember what song played as I walked down the aisle, but it was perfect. For our reception meal Kim and Steve made a giant batch of spaghetti over their fire pit since we still had no power/were running low on food. Somehow, they also managed to bake a wedding cake—SO THOUGHTFUL. Despite the lack of vendors, guests, and traditional wedding elements, our people came together to create such a special day – a true testament to the power of community and love. The cherry on top? Our photographer, Ashley Sieg, miraculously made it to us with no cell service and no idea if we were still having a wedding. She captured stunning photos that we will cherish forever. Kim and Steve were more than just venue hosts; they were our lifeline during a harrowing weekend. Their generosity, resourcefulness, and genuine care made all the difference. From bringing supplies to officiating our ceremony, we couldn’t have done it without them. Stony Woods Estate is a breathtaking property. But beyond its beauty, this place holds a special magic. If you’re on the fence about booking your wedding here, do it. You won’t regret it! Don’t be surprised if Kim and Steve become a lasting part of your story.

We had the pleasure of staying at Stony Woods Estate the weekend of Hurricane Helene. The hosts Kim and Steve we’re gracious and kind, considerate, caring, and selfless during this horrific tragedy. We arrived Thursday evening and power went out Friday morning at 9 AM. We had a wedding planned for Saturday with 80 people. Half of the wedding guests obviously didn’t make it and we were missing several people that were staying in the towns Marshall and Asheville. We had no cell service and couldn’t contact anyone. Obviously our daughter Leyanne and her fiancé Jeremy were not excited about going through with the wedding knowing we had missing family and friends. But love prevails and somehow we all pulled together and made it happen anyways. No Officiant, no food truck, no pampering. Steve officiated the wedding and the photographer made it up the mountain. My daughter in law Brandi did the girls hair and the maid of honor did the make up! I brought all the decorations from home so we were set there! Kim and her family made a wedding cake, salad and spaghetti!! So thankfull! We consider ourselves exceptionally blessed to have stayed with Kim and Steve and felt safe there. This was most definitely a wedding of the century!

We had our wedding here this past weekend. All of the staff were immensely helpful and attentive, including in the planning months prior. Our wedding was even more beautiful than I imagined. Guests loved the lawn games and scenery, and the option to stay in a cabin near the villa. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

We hosted our daughter’s wedding at this wonderful home. The house is spacious, immaculately clean, and well-appointed. The property is magnificent with great views and a range of venues and options for a vacation or an event. The best part, however, is the attentiveness and service provided by the owners. They were friendly, responsive, and considerate to our every need and request. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We absolutely loved our stay at Stony Woods Estate. We got married here and it was the perfect location for our small wedding! Kim and Steve were always responsive and helped us with anything we needed. We even had to change a tire and they sent a friend to help us out since our rental car didn’t have the tools! The kitchen has everything you will ever need and there’s lots of DVDs available to watch movies. The couch is amazing and so are the beds. We have no complaints! We will definitely be back to stay in one of the treehouses. The property is so private and beautiful. The drive up to the property on the main road and their driveway is breathtaking! Will definitely recommend to anyone!

We had an intimate wedding on the property. The villa had so much to offer! The background for photos was incredible. The property manager communicated throughly. The new tree houses had the best mix of outdoors and indoors comforts. We could not have had a better weekend and I couldnt imagine a more perfect location for our wedding!
